Pegasus Group has been named as a finalist in the category for Planning Consultancy of the Year, and for Excellence in Planning For Homes (large schemes) for Heyford Park at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2019.
The RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for over 40 years, they celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society.
Heyford Park is a former 500 hectare (1,260 acre) airbase set in north Oxfordshire countryside vacated by the United States Air Force in 1994. The entire site is designated as a Conservation Area in view of its Cold War heritage assets.
Pegasus Group worked on behalf of Dorchester Living, a highly progressive developer who acquired the land interest in the site and were determined that planning take centre stage to evolve and deliver a masterplan for the regeneration of Heyford Park. The vision was to create an innovative new Masterplan that brings forward development in a comprehensive and inclusive way to provide high quality new homes whilst working with the existing community and residents, employment opportunities, schooling and leisure facilities for both residents of and the wider neighbourhood.
Managing Director, Tony Bateman said:
“We are delighted to have provided specialist EIA, landscape, heritage and planning services to Dorchester Living to inform the client decision making process for Heyford Park.
“We are also thrilled to be shortlisted for Planning Consultancy of the Year 2019. At Pegasus Group we believe that we are much more than a leading development consultancy, we take time to understand our clients’ objectives and deliver bespoke solutions to drive growth and regeneration to benefit both our clients and the wider community. I pass on sincere thanks to all of our staff who continue to work to this ethos and without whom we would not be so successful.”
RTPI President Ian Tant MRTPI said: “Many congratulations to all this year’s finalists, who demonstrate outstanding contributions to planning, producing a positive effect on our communities, the economy and the environment. They have shown how planners can use their passion and skills to meet needs, deliver high quality design and tackle environmental challenges – they should all be proud of their role as a force for good in society.”
The winners will be announced during a ceremony held at Milton Court Concert Hall in central London on 24 April 2019.
The RTPI champions the power of planning in creating prosperous places and vibrant communities. It is the only body in the UK that confers Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification sought after by employers. It supports its members – over 25,000 worldwide – throughout their careers.
