Planning permission for 343 new homes on land at Ellison Fold Way has been granted by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Consultants Pegasus Group secured the approval on behalf of East Lancashire housebuilder McDermott Homes.

The mix of 2, 3 and 4-bed detached and semi-detached homes with off-street parking will include 67 affordable grant funded properties in a mix of tenues.
Planning permission was granted subject to a s106 agreement that will see £1.5m pumped into local highways and education.
Phil Robinson, Director at Pegasus Group said: “It was extremely pleasing to attend our first ‘in person’ planning meeting for 15 months and successfully gain planning permission for our client.
“We were able to demonstrate to planners that the application was an example of sustainable development that will contribute towards meeting the economic, social and environmental objectives of development in the region.”
The economic benefits expected to be delivered by the proposed development include:
- The support of 107 construction roles and indirect/induced jobs supported per annum during build phase
- The generation of £45 million construction investment over the 8-year build programme the majority of which will be localised
- The generation of 28 jobs supported by activities at the site over the build programme
- The generation of £1.7 million of household expenditure, in turn generating an estimated 5 full-time equivalent jobs; and,
- The generation of £640,000 annual increase in Council Tax revenue
Mark Wilkinson, Technical Director from McDermott homes said: “McDermott Homes are pleased to be working again with Pegasus Group in securing another development to deliver additional homes in Blackburn. We are embarking on a strategy of growth and are actively looking for additional sites across the north west. This site will add to the seven sites we currently have under construction”
The development site, previously allocated for housing, straddles Ellison Fold Lane making it effectively two parcels of land. The plans have been designed to provide an attractive scheme that is sympathetic to the local area and character and will create a sense of space. A series of Public Open Spaces are proposed that will become focal points and allow a sense of space within the site.
