Project Overview

Planning permission has been granted for Little Catwick Quarry by East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC). This approval covers six Section 73 applications, extending the timeframe for the existing mineral operation at Little Catwick Quarry from July 23, 2024, to July 23, 2039. The project includes varying the relevant planning consents for extraction operations, aggregate recycling, and related facilities, including a bagging plant.

Project Details

The site spans approximately 62 hectares, located to the east of the A165 (Leven by-pass) and southwest of Little Catwick. The project also involves working on a previously unworked area of land, approximately 9 hectares in size, which will be restored in accordance with the previously approved restoration plan.

The project involved the efforts of Pegasus Group’s multidisciplinary teams, including planning, environment, heritage, landscape, and infrastructure experts. Key team members include James Sutton, Peter Hopkins, Dale Turner, Kate Curtis, Laura Garcia, and Simon Tucker. External partners such as Chris Wright (Wright Environmental Ltd) and Steven Windass (Local Transport Projects Ltd) also contributed to the project.

Challenges Overcome

The project faced several challenges, including establishing and understanding the baseline of the Environmental Statement (ES) as the site was already operational, as well as addressing effects on existing public rights of way (PRoWs). The team’s comprehensive approach ensured that these challenges were effectively managed to provide sustainable solutions.
