Project Overview
Full planning permission was granted in July 2025 for a scheme of 34 low carbon residential dwellings with associated infrastructure, including vehicular access from Bath Road. The development will contribute to local housing needs while promoting sustainable travel and respecting the heritage context of the site.
The Challenge
The site had previously been refused planning permission for a scheme of 44 dwellings and was dismissed at appeal. The earlier proposal, submitted by a different housebuilder and technical team, failed to overcome concerns raised by the local planning authority and stakeholders.
The Solution
The Transport team undertook a thorough approach in the preparation of the work for the planning application submission. This included attendance at a public consultation event as well as the preparation of a Transport Statement, a Stage One Road Safety Audit of the proposed access arrangements (informed by traffic surveys) and a Measures-Only Travel Plan Statement for the planning application submission. The quality and clarity of the technical work resulted in no objection from the highway authority, helping to secure a positive planning outcome.
