Stratford-on-Avon District Council has granted planning permission for 154 new homes at Long Marston Airfield.

Pegasus Group successfully achieved the Reserved Matters approval on behalf of Bovis Homes – part of Vistry Group for the residential development at Lower Quinton, Stratford, which was made under delegated powers.Long Marston

The development is part of the wider Long Marston Garden Village which is set to deliver 3,500 new homes, three new schools, a local centre, employment land and 70ha public open space (POS).

Pegasus Group’s Cirencester-based Urban Design and Landscaping teams and Bristol-based Transport Planning team worked alongside Vistry Homes and Optimis Planning to produce the proposed layout and a range of supporting material, including a re-elevated house type pack, a Design & Access Statement, detailed landscaping proposals and highway engineering services.

Tim Corcoran, Principal Urban Designer at Pegasus Group added: “This is a fantastic site with a brilliant wider vision. This particular parcel forms part of the wider 400-unit first phase of the Long Marston Garden Village, which is part of the government’s Garden Communities Programme.

“The team worked hard with council officers throughout the design process to overcome key challenges and deliver a high-quality scheme with a strong sense of place that respects the character of the surrounding villages and will integrate well into the context of the wider phase.”

Pegasus Group’s Cirencester Urban Design and Landscaping teams assisted CALA Homes in producing and securing approval for the original 400-unit Phase 1 scheme (approved March 2019) prior to Vistry Group’s acquisition of the south-eastern parcel. The current scheme was designed to follow the established design principles of the previously approved scheme. The 154 new homes will be in a range of styles and sizes, and 30 of them (17.5%) will be affordable with a mix of tenure.

Andrew Harvey, regional land director at Bovis Homes, said: “Bovis Homes is very excited our new Long Marston development on the former airfield site, close to Stratford-upon-Avon, is now ready for take-off.

“We are pleased our reserved matters planning application for 154 homes, including 30 affordable homes, highways and all associated works, has been approved in line with our acquisition program, by way of a delegated decision.”
