The planning and development consultancy is funding carbon removal, nature recovery and community work through Belmont’s Nature Connection programme.
08 October 2026 — Belmont has partnered with Pegasus Group, a leading multidisciplinary planning and development consultancy, as a sustainability partner. Belmont runs this model with a small number of businesses: an annual membership, in return for access to the estate and a package of sustainability work shaped around what each partner needs. Carbon offsetting, event space, employee volunteering, or some combination.
For Pegasus, that means funding 325 tonnes of carbon removal a year, split between peatland restoration in Scotland (162 tonnes) and an international restoration project at Mt Elgon (163 tonnes). It also funds 60 Nature Recovery Units at Belmont, 540 square metres of land secured by conservation covenant for the long term, 220 hours of nature connection work with the community, 40 volunteering days for Pegasus staff, and 150 trees planted at Aberarder, Belmont’s landscape-scale nature recovery project in the Scottish Highlands.
Pegasus advises clients across the country on planning and development, including landscape architecture, green infrastructure, and biodiversity and ecology work tied to biodiversity net gain requirements. This partnership, through Belmont’s leadership in ecological stewardship, will also support Pegasus in its work to set new benchmarks for nature-based development solutions that deliver lasting value.
“Pegasus spend their working days advising on ecology and biodiversity net gain for other people’s land. Time on a site that’s actually recovering gives that work some grounding. We’re delighted to have Pegasus as a partner.” Henry Rossiter, Business Development Director, Belmont Estate.
Jonathan Rainery, Deputy CEO at Pegasus Group, said: “Partnering with Belmont Estate marks an exciting step forward in achieving our carbon reduction targets. For Pegasus though this is more than offsetting our CO2 emissions, it’s an opportunity to support and learn from an innovative nature recovery programme and contribute to a sustainable future.”
Commenting on the partnership, Tom Rothero, Biodiversity & Ecology Head at Pegasus Group, said “This partnership reflects the values that sit at the heart of Pegasus Group. We are committed to helping create places that work for people and nature. Belmont Estate are demonstrating what’s possible when nature recovery is given the time, space and the investment to succeed. Through supporting its nature recovery and community initiatives, we are reinforcing our own sustainability ambitions while contributing to meaningful environmental change.”
