Ethan’s passion for urban design was ignited in his early childhood, fuelled by his love for city-building games. This fascination led him to pursue a degree in urban design at Oxford Brookes University. Post-graduation, Ethan gained valuable experience working on freelance projects, which eventually led him to the Pegasus Graduate Scheme.
Discovering the scheme through the Urban Design Group website, which his lecturers frequently recommended, was a pivotal moment for Ethan. “The website catered specifically to urban design, a niche field with limited opportunities. It was a great resource for finding positions in the industry,” he recalled.
Since joining Pegasus, Ethan has been able to realise his childhood dream of city-building on a grand scale. The company has provided him with numerous opportunities to work on significant projects, including a massive 1600-unit scheme in Leominster. This project stands out as his most significant achievement to date, showcasing his ability to manage complex tasks and contribute meaningfully to large-scale developments.
Ethan’s experience at Pegasus has been enriched by the company’s supportive environment and the exposure to all the difference disciplines of the business. He has worked closely with different teams, gaining insights into planning, environmental aspects, and client interactions. This exposure has broadened his perspective and allowed him to see the bigger picture of urban design.
The graduate scheme has also helped Ethan develop essential skills, particularly in using software like AutoCAD and Vectorworks. “I went from not knowing these programs to feeling like I could help to train others. It’s a testament to the excellent support and mentorship at Pegasus,” Ethan said.
Ethan also appreciates the team-oriented culture at Pegasus, which fosters collaboration and mutual support. “The company is very team-oriented. There’s not a day when I’m working entirely alone. The collaborative environment is what I enjoy the most,” he emphasised.
Looking to the future, Ethan aims to continually improve and be a valuable team member. He is motivated by the desire to support others and contribute meaningfully to his team. The Pegasus Graduate Scheme has set him on the right path, providing the foundation he needs to achieve his career goals.
For future graduates considering the Pegasus Graduate Scheme, Ethan has simple yet powerful advice: “Even if you think you know nothing, you probably know more than you realise. Have faith in yourself and go for it.”
