Location: Pegasus Group - Birmingham Central
Pegasus Group hosted a successful seminar on the long-anticipated changes to planning for housing in our Birmingham Central office on Wednesday 12th June 2019.
The seminar was well attended by delegates ranging from house builders to developers and lawyers checking in to listen to our Senior Director, Keith Fenwick and Associate Planners, Hanna Staton and Clare Eggington who talked about Housing Policy and Housing Delivery in the West Midlands.
The purpose of this seminar was to explain the changes and identify the implications for the development industry. We used case studies based on the complex West Midlands geography to spatially draw out key issues to consider in the future and much more.
Hanna spoke about recent changes to the Standard Method, provided an overview of the Housing Delivery Test and an update to the Five Year Housing Land Supply definitions, calculation and process. Implications and challenges arising from these concepts, in the context of planning for homes in the West Midlands, were also explained.
Using various case studies, Clare discussed the various geographies relating to Housing Policy and Delivery in the West Midlands, giving a summary of key issues that are faced as well as the challenges and opportunities in the region and lastly the need for a bespoke approach for each site.
