Ebbsfleet Garden City is a thriving, vibrant new community and we’re delighted to be working with Countryside on this next chapter. With our focus on placemaking, Ashmere will not only provide high-quality, affordable homes but also be a great place to live and work, and we’re excited to see our plans come to life.
Nick Wood, Director of Development – Clarion Housing Group
Countryside and Clarion have formed a large partnership to provide up to 2,600 homes – a quarter of which will be affordable housing – in the new village of Ashmere, part of Ebbsfleet Garden City in North Kent. The £900 million development, which is expected to be finished by 2033, is one of Britain’s biggest residential housing schemes.
We have provided planning, environment and design expertise for several phases of the Eastern Quarry, Ebbsfleet working in conjunction with our clients to ensure development success.
The proposed development will create housing choice and amenity space for the expanding new community within Eastern Quarry. It will enable public access to the Quarry’s considerable assets including, new parks, the lake and the wider green infrastructure network which was planned in tandem with a new rapid transit system.
The design was based on the principles set out in an Area Masterplan and Design Code and was the culmination of extensive pre-application discussions with EDC. It features an exciting range of bespoke-designed dwellings whose position and orientation were been carefully considered in order to establish natural surveillance and to capitalise on dramatic setting that Eastern Quarry provides.
The completed development will possess a strong identity and distinct sense of place whilst at the same time integrating with the newly-expanding community and forms part of the Government Flagship Ebbsfleet Garden City scheme.
