Pegasus Group is to retain national charity Shelter as its nominated Charity of the Year for a second year.

Despite fundraising activities throughout 2020 being hard hit by the Covid pandemic, generous colleagues at Pegasus Group still managed to raise nearly £3,000.

Managing Director Tony Bateman said everyone at the business was, however, keen to do even more for the homeless charity.

He said: “Our fundraising efforts last year were badly affected by Covid which was disappointing. Whilst £3,000 was a great achievement in the light of the constraints we were all under, I know everyone was really looking to be able to do so much more for Shelter and we hope to be able to organise more fundraising activities as we move throughout 2021”. Fundraising events last year saw staff members take part in an array of fun fundraisers, including:

  • Pumpkin design competition
  • Christmas tree decoration competition
  • Office bake offs
  • World Book Day donations
  • Christmas hamper raffles
  • Graham Lamb from the Manchester office ran 5k a day from the start of the first lockdown!

While the Group’s main event of the year – 2020 miles for 2020 – saw the team challenged to either walk, cycle, swim or run 2020 miles as part of Shelter’s annual Big Walk. The Pegasus Group team actually completed 2,401 miles!

Shelter helps people struggling with bad housing or homelessness and offers advice, support, and legal services. The past year has had a massive impact on housing, with a surge in homelessness and more people needing assistance with managing their home situation than ever before.
