Pegasus Group has been shortlisted in three categories at the prestigious, annual Planning Awards, including Planning Consultancy of the Year.

Planning Awards 2019

The awards, organised by Planning Magazine, recognise excellence in both planning and placemaking, and submissions are invited across 25 categories. More than 300 industry professionals will gather in London on June 4th when the winners will be unveiled.

Pegasus Group has been shortlisted for three awards:

  • Planning Consultancy of the Year
  • Best Housing Scheme (500 homes plus)
  • Best Use of Heritage in Placemaking (single buildings)

The Best Housing Scheme (500 homes plus) showcases Heyford Park, a former 500 hectare airbase in the north Oxfordshire countryside vacated by the United States Air Force in 1994. The entire site is designated as a Conservation Area in view of its Cold War heritage assets. The regeneration strategy focussed on an integrated and sustainable community including 1,600 additional homes and 1,500 additional jobs, taking innovative approaches towards delivering social infrastructure. An enhanced heritage offering identified key themes of Heyford Park’s history such as technology and aviation innovation or espionage and designing new activities and attractions.

Best use of Heritage in Placemaking (single buildings) features York Road Library in Leeds, a special and historic building that was a popular community facility until it’s closure. The Grade-II Listed building had been identified as a ‘building at risk’ and prone to vandalism negatively affecting the local community. Its regeneration led to the creation of a vibrant, inclusive and thriving community asset. A considered design process allowed important external features of the building to be retained and complemented by a modern rear extension. The external environment has also been enhanced through hard and soft landscaping and improving pedestrian access.

The Group’s submission for Planning Consultancy of the Year focused on its greatest asset – its people. Managing Director Tony Bateman said: “The most important part of Pegasus Group, and a continued factor in our success, is our people. We have more than 290 skilled, experienced and committed members of staff who work on some of the UK’s highest profile projects, often going the extra mile to ensure clients receive the best advice and market leading support.

“We believe that we are much more than a leading development consultancy. We take the time to understand our client’s objectives and deliver bespoke solutions to drive growth and regeneration to benefit not only our clients, but the wider community.
