Outline planning permission for 45 new homes in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, was granted earlier this week by Charnwood Borough Council.

Consultants Pegasus Group secured the approval, on behalf of Davidsons Developments Ltd, for the development of the land to the north of East Road, Wymeswold, with all matters reserved except for access along the A6006 East Road.

Planning officers recommended the scheme for approval subject to a raft of Section 106 contributions including:

  • 40% affordable homes – rented and shared ownership
  • Open space and recreation facilities
  • Improvements to existing allotments
  • Provision of a pedestrian crossing

Pegasus Group provided planning, urban design, landscape and public consultation input.

Guy Longley, Executive Director at Pegasus Group, said: “The development will deliver a range of houses, the mix of which will be determined at the detailed design stage.

“The vision for the land at East Road was always to provide a new, high quality development that integrates with the existing settlement of Wymeswold and complements the existing landscape setting.

“We were pleased to secure planning permission on behalf of our clients, the key benefits of which will be to not only bring much needed new homes to the local area, but the delivery of a new pedestrian crossing to East Road.”
