A stunning wedding venue in the heart of rural East Yorkshire is set to build a permanent function building.
Pegasus Group secured planning permission on behalf of Mike Artley of the Oaklands Wedding Venue near Brandesburton, to replace a temporary marquee with more permanent facilities.
Peter Hopkins, a Senior Planner at Pegasus Group’s Leeds office, said: “The application faced significant constraints. The site is within the open countryside, within flood zone 3a, and accessed from a narrow country lane.”
“We were able to successfully secure consent by producing an effective flood risk assessment and sequential test, demonstrating the essential need for the proposed function building to be sited at the established venue.”
“Pegasus Group worked closely with Local Transport Projects Ltd and met the Highways Engineer and Highways Development Management Officer from East Riding of Yorkshire Council on-site, to formulate a strategy to improve an existing passing place and create two new passing places to remove objections from the Highways Officers.”
“Pegasus Group also wrote to Brandesburton Parish Council following their objections on highways grounds, in order to explain that all of the highways comments had been taken into consideration and to offer the Parish Council details of the passing place strategy agreed with Highways Officers.
“As a result, the Brandesburton Parish Council removed their objections, which meant that the application was determined and approved under delegated powers, rather than needing to be referred to Planning Committee for determination, saving the client time and further costs.”
The Planning Officer for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in her report, said the applicants had addressed all of the concerns raised, and that on that basis she recommended the plans for approval.
Oaklands is a unique wedding venue set in 200 acres of picturesque woodlands. Bridal parties currently celebrate in giant tipi tents complete with bench style tables and seating, flooring, dance floor, dance floor, fairy lights and fire pit. The new bespoke timber function building will offer improved facilities for wedding breakfasts and for reception parties, utilising the spectacular lakeside setting of the venue.
