Harrogate Borough Council has approved, subject to a S106, a planning application to bring 87 new homes to the small town of Boroughbridge.
Pegasus Group submitted the plans on behalf of Linden Homes, who will build a selection of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes.
The development is set to transform Riverside Saw Mills and a range of industrial units which are in the process of being demolished. The site is bounded to the north by the River Ure, Tower Marina and existing buildings and near to site where the Battle of Boroughbridge took place on March 16th 1322.
In a report, council members heard that the proposed development will contribute to meeting the district’s housing land supply and address the current under supply both in terms of open market and affordable units.
Chris Hunter, Director at Pegasus Group’s Leeds office, said: “We are pleased to see this project progress to the next stage and look forward to our client bringing 87 much needed new homes to Boroughbridge.
“Consent had previously granted for the development of this brownfield site with officers acknowledging that it represents sustainable development. They also identified that there were no adverse economic, environmental or social harm that would significantly or demonstrably outweigh the benefits.”
