Pegasus Group Partner With Midlands UK At MIPIM 2018

Location: Cannes, France

Pegasus Group will be part of the Midlands UK delegation attending MIPIM this year, Directors Simon Chamberlayne and James Atkin will be representing our Midlands offices.

The Midlands is a region with ambition and a strong growth strategy with a population of 10 million people – 15.4% of the UK – 400,000 businesses and an economy worth more than £200 billion. The Midlands boasts an enviable range of fantastic assets including world class universities, Jaguar Land Rover, NEC, and international airports.

Over 600,000 people in the Midlands work in manufacturing, delivering over one-fifth of the UK’s annual output. The region is home to nationally significant clusters, including advanced manufacturing in the Black Country and Derbyshire, the automotive cluster around Coventry and Warwickshire, the ceramics industry in Stoke and Staffordshire and an aerospace and transport cluster centred around Derby.

Universities complement these clusters through collaboration with local businesses and research. The Midlands has a strong science and research base, including 20 universities, three of which have been ranked in the top 150 in the world – Warwick, Birmingham, and Nottingham.

HS2 will also play an important part in the Midlands growth and is estimated it will deliver 74,000 jobs and add nearly £4 billion to the Midlands’ economy by 2043. As part of this growth strategy there will be a local connectivity package of 20 transport schemes to effectively support local transport networks. This once in a generation opportunity requires careful planning to ensure that the maximum economic value to the region is delivered.

The Midlands is delighted by the fantastic news of Birmingham being awarded the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Coventry being announce City of Culture 2021. These two events, combined with continued investment in Nottingham city centre and Stoke on Trent’s Smithfield site will provide a positive stimulus to the regional economy, in terms of output, employment and infrastructure.

Monaco HousePegasus Group is delivering market-leading advice on major Midlands development projects such as Monaco House redevelopment and Gloucestershire Gateway MSA.
