Pegasus Group will be attending MIPIM this year, held in Cannes France from 12th to 15th March. Our London office will be represented by Directors Jim Tarzey and Barry Cansfield who both have considerable experience of promoting complex schemes in the capital.
With Brexit negotiations well under way and shifting political and economic patterns across the world, London, as a key economic driver for the Country, is under pressure to deliver prosperity. The challenge is a big one!
As part of this challenge, on Wednesday 29th November 2017, the Mayor of London published his Draft New London Plan for consultation. This represents the first step towards the Mayor delivering his political and economic priorities to address housing need, protect industrial land and maximise densities in the Capital.
Whilst Central London will always be subject to development pressure, the focus for delivery in our view will increasingly look at Zones 2-6 (the suburbs). As ever, critical to achieving success in realising development opportunities will be the promotion of mixed-use (including the juxtaposition of employment and residential uses), intensification of use of land and optimisation of sites. Private, commercial and institutional landowners should dust down their property portfolio and begin to consider whether under-utilised sites in the suburbs can accommodate residential intensification – car parks, supermarket / retail warehouse locations and industrial sites close to town centres will be critical resources for delivering high density, tall, residential led mixed use schemes.
