James is a Chartered Landscape Architect who specialises in the application of landscape and visual assessment in the UK and International context. James has a proven application of a range of best practice guidance including GLVIA (Landscape Institute), IAN 135/10 (Highways Agency) and WebTAG (Department for Transport) and has authored a broad range of landscape and visual impact appraisals and assessments.
This knowledge and experience has enabled James to develop bespoke methodologies to establish locally appropriate judgements on issues such as value and susceptibility; this is of particular benefit in the international context where LVIA is not always an established concept. He is an experienced expert witness and has successfully represented schemes at appeal, including written representations, hearings and public inquiry. In addition to his skills in impact assessment he also has capabilities in specification and contract management for landscape schemes.
James has worked extensively in a range of sectors that include power, highways, rail infrastructure, housing, waste, land reclamation and restoration, mineral extraction, commercial developments and renewable energy.
