James is a Chartered Landscape Architect with nearly 20 years’ experience in landscape and visual impact assessment and its application in the development industry. Over this time James has worked with the residential and commercial sectors for development masterplans at all scales. Providing advice on landscape and visual matters from the outset of a project ensures that mitigation forms an inherent part of a scheme that often benefits heritage and ecological matters as well as landscape and visual issues.
James also provides expert witness service in relation to landscape and visual matters and has appeared for a range of clients in respect of written representations, appeal hearings and full public inquires (including Rosewell).
Prior to joining Pegasus Group, James worked nationally and internationally on major infrastructure projects, including rail and highways but also in relation to mineral extraction, waste and power (including oil, gas and electricity).
This knowledge and experience has enabled James to develop and understand bespoke methodologies to establish locally appropriate judgements on issues such as value and susceptibility; this is of particular benefit in the international context where LVIA is not always an established concept.
