Planning permission has been granted for a new convenience store in Kingswinford, to be built on the site of a former petrol station.

Pegasus Group assisted SEP Properties in obtaining consent for the erection of the convenience store with associated parking on the site that used to be Kingswinford Service Station.

The former petrol station was demolished years ago and the vacant site on Stream Road is currently overgrown and unmaintained.

Anthony Jones, Pegasus Group Director (Bristol)Anthony Jones, from Pegasus Group’s Bristol office, said: “Obtaining a successful result for this scheme is particular pleasing as we were only appointed after two planning application submissions to look to address the outstanding issues concerning access, trip impact, car parking demand and provision, internal layout design, service management and pedestrian safety.

“Using our extensive knowledge of working on convenience store applications, we were able to achieve an improved site layout that would not significantly impact on the local highway network. This included for significant proactive discussions with the design team and negotiations with both planning and highway officers at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.

“This work was supported by a detailed Transport Statement that addressed all the key issues, including for surveying nearby convenience stores in the DMBC area to support the trip impact and parking demand technical justifications.”
