Pegasus Group’s Bracknell office worked closely with registered charity Berkshire Youth and the Architect to provide planning support for the proposals. These were to redevelop an existing building to provide refurbished and extended facilities including counselling services, a viewing gallery, a shop, café and climbing tower.
This important project will regenerate a prominent town centre site on the Newbury Canalside and in the Conservation Area, improve its redundant appearance and importantly provide essential youth and leisure facilities, which are in high demand. The climbing tower also introduces a landmark feature into the canal streetscape, which will add visual interest and reflect the leisure use of the site.
Key to achieving planning permission was the support Pegasus Group provided to address local objections to the development throughout the application and presenting the compelling benefits of the development to the Council’s planning committee. The application was given a unanimous approval at planning committee in December 2019.
