Pegasus Group worked on behalf of The Co-operative Group to gain permission for a change of use from a Public House to a convenience store.
The pub was sited in a small shopping complex within a housing estate. The proposal faced an attempt by the Town Council to register the Pub as an Asset of Community Value. However, this was unsuccessful and despite this objection, there was a large degree of support from local residents and local councillors.
During the determination period Pegasus Group negotiated with the Council and responded to concerns raised. Ultimately, the planning committee agreed with the assessment that the pub was no longer financially viable and that there was sufficient alternative provision within the local area. The application was approved by planning committee.
