The Grade II listed, 41 Devonshire Place is home of the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL) and is located within the Harley Street Conservation Area. This has been the headquarters of RPSL since 1925.
The proposal was for the provision of a rear extension to the Listed Building alongside a series of internal and external alterations. Due to the sensitivity of the buildings location and to overcome any potential issues, a public consultation event was held.
At the pre-application stage both the Local Planning Authority and Historic England were opposed to any development, however, thanks to constructive negotiations over the course of the planning process both parties revised their views to support the application.
The planning and Listed Building consent applications were granted permission in June 2015. On implementation the scheme will safeguard the future of this internationally renowned property.
