Pegasus Group’s Planning and Heritage teams have secured planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the conversion of the former Lloyds Bank branch at the Rotunda, Montpellier Walk, Cheltenham to a Class A3 restaurant with outdoor seating area, on behalf of The Ivy Group.

Originally built in 1817, with the Rotunda added in 1825-6, the Grade I Listed Building is one of the most recognisable and important building in Cheltenham, with its domed ceiling to the circular main hall inspired by The Pantheon in Rome. The conversion will see the restoration of the interior, including the opening up of the ‘long room’ which is currently partitioned into offices.

After extensive negotiations with Historic England and Officers at Cheltenham Borough Council, it was agreed that a new circular bar and servery will be located in the centre of the Rotunda and act as a focal point of the new restaurant space.
