Pegasus Group were commissioned by Tendring District Council to provide representation at Public Inquiry.
Permission had been refused for c.200 homes within a field to the south of the Spa and that decision had been appealed by the Applicant. The Appeal Site was bordered to the north by the Grade II Registered Park and Gardens associated with the former Thorpe Hall. This area now also forms the south-eastern part of the Thorpe-le-Soken Conservation Area.
One of the Council’s Reasons for Refusal cited harm to the significance of both designated heritage assets as a result of changes to setting. Pegasus Group provided advice throughout the appeal process, and ultimately served as expert witness in respect of heritage, successfully advocating for preservation of the assets’ setting.
The decision is still pending.
