The Tata Steel Internal Power Generation Enhancement project comprises the development of an existing power station with the installation of two new boilers with a generating capacity of 225Mwe and was considered a Nationally Significant infrastructure Project (NSIP) under the Planning Act 2008. The proposals included two stacks up to 80 metres in height, cooling towers, turbine hall and boiler house within the Port Talbot steelworks.

Pegasus Group were appointed by AECOM and Tata Steel UK to consult with Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC) during the NSIP application process.

Pegasus Group also contributed to the Preliminary Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) and the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) chapter for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) required for the Development Consent Order (DCO). The LVIA considered the effects on the NRW LANDMAP aspects areas assessing the massing, scale and alignment of the power station enhancements within the Port Talbot steelworks.
