The economics team provided input to representations on the Consultation Draft of the Leicester and Leicestershire Strategic Growth Plan, which is the overarching plan for delivering growth (housing, economic, infrastructure) in Leicester and Leicestershire until 2050.
The team’s input focused on the evidence behind economic growth rates outlined in the Plan and included the following analysis:
- A review of past trends in employment and economic output in Leicester and Leicestershire.
- A critique of the January 2017 Housing and Economic Development Needs Assessment for Leicester and Leicestershire, which is the economic evidence base that underpins a large part of the Strategic Growth Plan.
- Summary conclusions, focusing on whether the Growth Strategy is ambitious enough in its economic growth targets.
