Pegasus Group was instructed to prepare representations as part of the consultation process for the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, a joint plan to manage the supply of land for jobs and new homes across the conurbation over the next 20 years.
The vision outlined in GMSF is to “see Greater Manchester driving growth within the North of England and providing a counterbalance to the strength of London and the South East” by 2035. Pegasus Group undertook detailed analysis of the growth assumptions to see whether they will support this long-term vision. Close attention was paid to:
• Past trends in employment and economic output growth
• The extent to which job opportunities will be taken by people aged 65+
• What a more ambitious growth rate could mean for future housing demand
Pegasus Group has undertaken similar exercises elsewhere, which includes feeding into Local Plan consultations in Solihull and Chesterfield for clients.
