Newtown Linford site layoutThe redevelopment of a former mobile home park in Newtown Linford, Leicestershire, to provide seven new bungalows and a replacement dwelling, has been approved by Charnwood Borough Council.

Pegasus Group secured permission on behalf of William Davis Ltd for the small residential development at Lady Jane Mobile Home Park, Bradgate Road.

The application for the erection of five 2-bed bungalows and two 3-bed bungalows, as well as a replacement dwelling at 532 Bradgate Road, was recommended for approval by council officers who said the properties would provide a mix of housing to meet local needs.

Newtown Linford Parish Council supported the plans saying they ‘sensitively reflected the local vernacular while the smaller sized bungalows addressed local housing needs’.

The parish council said: “Many residents of the village are looking to downsize their properties but currently have no option to remain within the village, due to a shortage of smaller dwellings.”

Set within the Newtown Linford Conservation area and opposite Bradgate Park, the site was last in use as a mobile home park where 12 mobile homes were unoccupied and uninhabitable.

Amy Smith from Pegasus Group, who provided planning, design and landscape design services on the scheme, said: “We are pleased that this high quality scheme has been approved, as we worked closely with the local council to develop the bespoke architectural design that will respect and enhance the character of the local area. This will result in a development that continues the strong identity and distinct sense of place within Newtown Linford.”
