Pegasus Group were appointed to prepare proposals for an outline planning application for the redevelopment of the former Newlands School site for up to 183 residential dwellings, including up to 40% affordable housing, access details, residential conversion of the main Newlands building and demolition of the remaining buildings, proposal also includes provision of a sports pitch and ancillary changing rooms, public open space, a children’s play area, associated parking and landscaping.

The proposals included retaining and converting the main Newlands School building to residential use. The building was constructed in the early 20th Century and whilst it is unlisted, it is considered to have some heritage value. The site is adjacent to a Grade II Listed Building and the setting has been enhanced by the proposals to provide significant open space and a sports pitch adjacent to the site’s boundary, whilst providing a view to the Newlands School building from the main entrance.
